FELLOWSHIP: Language Justice Organizer (Starting AUG 2021)

Commonwealth Corps
Service Internship Position Description
Matahari Women Workers Center
Commonwealth Corps
Language Justice Organizing Fellow
The mission of the Commonwealth Corps service internship program is to engage Massachusetts residents of all ages, backgrounds, and identities in direct service to strengthen communities, address critical needs, and increase volunteerism. Through hands-on experience, Commonwealth Corps members gain professional skills and valuable knowledge while positively impacting diverse communities in our state.
The Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA) is a private, nonprofit agency that oversees the program and supports host site partners and members to find success throughout the program year. The four Commonwealth Corps members with Matahari Women Workers’ Center will serve 10.5 months in a half-time capacity. They will join a diverse corps of members across Massachusetts who share a common desire to discover their passion and build their network in the service to their communities and the Commonwealth.
Matahari seeks to end gender-based violence and exploitation by developing leadership of immigrant women workers of color. Matahari will host four half-time members as Commonwealth Corps Language Justice Organizers. As Language Justice Organizers, you will help Matahari achieve its language justice goals. At Matahari we understand language justice is not simply a logistical task, but as a central commitment and part of our broader commitment to fight for dignity and respect for immigrant workers of color.
