Last night Matahari spoke in support of making Newton a sanctuary city to ensure that immigrant residents and workers feel safe to call on the police for help without fear. There was a lot of anti-immigrant people against the ordinance but we braved through and shared our stories in a packed meeting house and people booing us, but together we are powerful and we believe in the respect and dignity of immigrants.
